Experienced Family Law Attorneys
for real people with real problems.
At Wright, James & Boston, P.C. we appreciate that Family Law often deals with delicate emotional issues. This is why we believe in a mindful and patient approach to counseling our clients as to what is in their best interests. We strive to educate our clients when dealing with Family Law issues because decisions in this arena often affect our clients and their family members in a tangible and continuing manner.
Things you should do when filing a family law case:
- Consult an attorney before filing your pleadings!
- Allow an attorney to, at a minimum, review the pleadings you plan to file.
- Know what you will need to prove to get a favorable outcome in your case.
- If at all possible, attempt to negotiate with the other party. Resolve any and all issues that you can agree on and leave only the disputed matters, which the parties absolutely can not work out amongst themselves, for the Court to decide.
- Make sure the other side has notice of any court hearings that are scheduled.
- Be prepared with reliable evidence to support your position! Your testimony is good, but it is not the best evidence to present in family law cases. You may need to have witnesses available that can corroborate your testimony and/or documentation to present to the judge and/or jury for them to review.
- Always stay calm when in the courtroom before the judge!
If you have Family Law needs and seek counsel, we can help you.
